Giant Stand Up Paddle

A giant paddle board turns paddling into a shared adventure: one multi-person SUP that carries the whole family, a team or a group of beginners. Built by Aquadesign for real load and heavy use, our giant boards suit private paddlers looking for fun outings as much as clubs, rental centres and watersports bases. From 4 to 8 paddlers and up to 800 kg, simply match the size to your crew.

How to choose a giant (multi-person) paddle board

A giant paddle board is not just a bigger SUP: it is a board designed to carry several paddlers, spread their weight and stay stable while the group moves around. So the first thing to look at is not the length but the maximum load in kilos and the target number of people. Everything else — width, volume, handles, valves — follows from that.

Think in kilos, not just seats

Stated capacities (4, 6, 8 people) assume an average weight of around 65 kg per paddler, and a group of geared-up adults quickly exceeds that. Trust the total load instead: our Megacraft 15'1 carries up to 6 people / 650 kg, while the Megacraft 17'1 and the Rivercraft 15'9 reach 8 people / 800 kg. Always keep a margin — a board loaded to 80% of capacity rides higher and more forgivingly than one pushed to its limit.

Length, width and stability with several riders

  • Width is your first ally. A giant board goes well beyond the 32 inches of a solo SUP to give a solid platform under several pairs of feet: the wider it is, the more it forgives wobbles when everyone paddles… or laughs.
  • Length sets the number of stations and the glide. Around 15' to 17' comfortably fits 6 to 8 paddlers; the long format tracks straighter once it is up to speed.
  • Volume and thickness (15 cm) provide the buoyancy needed to carry the load without sinking. On a board this long, double-layer construction is essential to keep the deck rigid from nose to tail.

Handles, valves and inflating a large volume

A giant is handled by several people and inflated accordingly. Our models feature multiple carry handles along the rails, so two or four people can carry and launch the board effortlessly. For inflation, a large volume fills faster with two valves and a strong double-action pump: inflate on site once you reach the launch, rather than carrying an inflated board. As on all our SUPs, aim for 13 to 15 PSI — rigidity is already excellent above 12 PSI, and going over 18 PSI is not recommended. Watch out for heat (full sun, hot sand, roof racks), which raises pressure and stresses the seams. For inflation gear, see our high-pressure pumps.

Our Aquadesign giant paddle boards

Four boards, four uses. The Megacraft 15'1 (6 people / 650 kg) is the versatile size, ideal for family use and events. The Megacraft 17'1 (8 people / 800 kg) goes big for large groups and gatherings. The Rivercraft 15'9 (8 people / 800 kg) relies on rugged construction to withstand group use. Finally, the Speedcraft 22' (4 people / 400 kg) is our long, sleek team-racing board. All complete our stand up paddle range and our inflatable paddle boards.

Giant paddle boards for clubs, rental centres and communities

This is where the giant board truly shines. A single board takes a whole group on the water under one instructor: perfect for watersports-base activities, team-building sessions, stag and hen parties, summer camps, festivals or corporate events. For a rental business it is a highly profitable draw; for a community or campsite, a safe, crowd-pleasing activity. Our giants are built for intensive rotation: rugged materials, repairability, spare parts availability and professional pricing depending on fleet size. Custom builds are possible (colours, branding, configuration) thanks to our control of the whole production chain — talk to our sales team.

Team racing with the Speedcraft 22'

Paddling together is not only about leisurely cruises. The Speedcraft 22' is built for team racing (4 paddlers): a long hull, a sharp profile and a shared cadence, in the spirit of the "dragon" SUP races that blend speed, power and cohesion. It is the ideal tool for a club wanting to offer a spectacular team discipline, run an inter-company challenge or train a crew. Plan one paddle per crew member and a 50N buoyancy aid for each.

Why choose Aquadesign

A French watersports specialist since 1988, Aquadesign designs its boards to its own specifications and produces them in its own factories. Development takes place in France, in Oraison (04), home to our repair and after-sales workshop: on a giant board used hard in rental, being able to repair and replace a part changes everything. Our products meet CE requirements and are built to last seasons, not to be scrapped after one summer. To reach the launch despite the weight, consider our transport carts.

Frequently asked questions about giant paddle boards

How many people fit on a giant paddle board?

It depends on the model and, above all, on the total load. Our giants range from 4 paddlers (Speedcraft 22', up to 400 kg) to 8 paddlers (Megacraft 17'1 and Rivercraft 15'9, up to 800 kg), with 6 people / 650 kg for the Megacraft 15'1. Seat counts assume an average of 65 kg per person, so with geared-up adults, always think in kilos and keep a margin.

Which giant board should a club or watersports base choose?

For activities and rental, go for a very stable, rugged 15' to 17' board: the Megacraft 15'1 for versatility, the Megacraft 17'1 or Rivercraft 15'9 for large groups. These models handle intensive rotation and come with spare parts and professional pricing. Contact our sales team to size your fleet and explore a possible custom build.

Is a giant board hard to inflate and transport?

A large volume simply needs the right method: inflate on site with a double-action pump, using both valves when the model has them. The many carry handles let several people lift the board together. For the launch, a transport cart really eases the weight over the last few metres.

What pressure should a giant paddle board be inflated to?

Same as our other SUPs: 13 to 15 PSI. Rigidity is excellent from 12 PSI, 13 PSI gives good flex, and you should never exceed 18 PSI. On a board this long and loaded, good rigidity is essential: take the time to finish inflating, and watch for heat, which raises the pressure.

Can you race with a multi-person paddle board?

Yes: the Speedcraft 22' is built for team racing with 4 paddlers, with a long, tapered hull in the spirit of "dragon" SUP events. It is an ideal team discipline for clubs and corporate challenges, demanding synchronisation and cohesion more than sheer individual power.

Does Aquadesign offer custom builds and professional pricing?

Yes. Because we control the whole production chain, we can adapt colours, branding and configuration for clubs, rental centres, communities and events, with professional terms depending on volume. Our after-sales workshop in France handles servicing and spare parts. Contact our sales team to build your offer.
