How to choose your inflatable stand up paddle board

Choosing the right inflatable paddle board comes down to three things: your weight, your practice and the water you paddle on. The longer and more voluminous the board, the better it glides and the more load it carries; the wider it is, the more stable it feels. Our boards are built with drop-stitch construction (single or double layer depending on the model) for a stiffness close to a hard board once inflated to the right pressure.

What size and volume for my weight?

  • Up to 90 kg: most of our boards will suit you, including the compact 10' to 10'6 models.
  • 90 to 110 kg: go for generous volume (275 L or more) and at least 32" of width, such as the Kova 10'6 or the Arko 11'.
  • Over 110 kg, or paddling with a child on board: choose a touring model or a giant paddle board, longer and more buoyant.

Which board for which practice?

  • All-round — the do-it-all board to get started, cruise and progress as a family. Explore our all-round paddle boards.
  • Touring — longer and sleeker to move faster and carry gear on long outings: see our touring paddle boards.
  • SUP / kayak convertible — a seat and a double-blade paddle turn the board into a kayak. Perfect for mixing it up (Orya, Selka, Aelia, Django).
  • Giant / multi-person — to paddle together, in a club or a community setting: our giant paddle boards.

Giant paddle boards to ride together

This is one of our specialities: Aquadesign builds giant inflatable stand up paddle boards that carry a whole crew. The Megacraft 15'1 takes up to 6 people (650 kg), the Megacraft 17'1 and Rivercraft 15'9 up to 8 people (800 kg), while the Speedcraft 22' is built for team racing. Tough and easy to transport once deflated, these giant boards are ideal for water sports centres, clubs, rental businesses and local authorities looking for durable gear backed by real manufacturer support.

The complete, ready-to-paddle package

Every Aquadesign inflatable paddle board ships as a complete package: the board, an adjustable SUP paddle, a high-pressure pump, a leash and a backpack carry bag. All you have to do is inflate and go. To round out your kit, add a 50N buoyancy aid and a transport trolley.

Why choose Aquadesign

That manufacturing know-how shows in every board: hard-wearing materials, careful finishing, tested load capacities and CE compliance. Choosing Aquadesign means a specialist to talk to, responsive after-sales support and dedicated trade pricing for clubs, rental centres and local authorities.

Inflatable paddle board FAQ

Inflatable or hard paddle board: which should I choose?

An inflatable board is easier to carry and store, tougher on impact and ideal for families and clubs alike. A hard board glides slightly better but stays bulky. For the vast majority of paddlers, inflatable is the best compromise.

What size of inflatable paddle board should I choose for my weight?

Aim for enough volume to float comfortably: up to 90 kg most boards will do, between 90 and 110 kg look for at least 275 L and 32" of width, and beyond that go for a touring or giant model with more buoyancy.

How many people can ride a giant paddle board?

Depending on the model, from 4 to 8: the Megacraft 15'1 takes up to 6 people (650 kg), the Megacraft 17'1 and Rivercraft 15'9 up to 8 people (800 kg).

Is an inflatable paddle board stable for beginners or families?

Yes. Our wide, high-volume all-round models offer excellent stability to get started, do yoga or paddle with a child. Pick a board at least 32" wide for maximum comfort.

What's included in a complete paddle board package?

The board, an adjustable SUP paddle, a high-pressure pump, a leash and a backpack carry bag. Everything you need to paddle straight out of the box.

Can an inflatable paddle board be turned into a kayak?

Yes, with our convertible models (Orya, Selka, Aelia, Django). Just add the supplied kayak seat and a double-blade paddle to switch from stand up paddle to seated kayak.
