Inflatable Kayaks Pros

Meet our pro-grade inflatable kayaks, built for whitewater, heavy rental use and club supervision. With ultra-tough Hypalon hulls (K-Air) or self-bailing 1100 DTEX PVC fabric for rivers (Twiki), these boats shrug off rocks, UV and full seasons where entry-level models give up. Real manufacturer's equipment, repairable and backed by our France-based service workshop.

Choosing a pro or whitewater inflatable kayak

A kayak meant for a club, an activity centre or the rapids is not chosen like a beach boat. The real question is not the entry price but endurance: how many descents, how many rental seasons, how many scrapes over rock will the hull take before its first repair? That is exactly the brief behind our pro-grade inflatable kayaks. Three criteria drive the decision.

Hypalon or reinforced PVC fabric

Two constructions dominate intensive use, and the choice comes down to the lifespan you need:

  • Hypalon-CSM: the professional benchmark. This coated fabric resists UV, abrasion, hydrocarbons and temperature swings remarkably well, for a lifespan that far outlasts ordinary PVC under heavy use. It is the material of the K-Air 300 and K-Air 380 kayaks, built to last a decade or more when cared for.
  • Self-bailing 1100 DTEX PVC: a thick, high-tenacity fabric fitted to the Twiki I and Twiki II kayaks. Tough yet lighter to handle, it targets rivers and fast turnaround at the base, with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio.

The self-bailing floor, key to whitewater

On a river, a closed kayak fills up in the waves and quickly becomes unmanageable. The self-bailing floor solves this: drainage holes naturally shed the water taken on and keep the boat light and responsive, rapid after rapid. Our Twiki kayaks feature this system, as do the K-Air, certified for Class I to IV depending on the model. Add multiple air chambers (up to 2+2+1 on the Twiki II), which preserve buoyancy even after a puncture — essential safety the moment you leave flat water.

1-person or 2-person

  • 1-person — the most agile and responsive in moving water. The K-Air 300 and Twiki I (just 13 kg) can be carried one-handed to the put-in and easily relaunched in the rapids.
  • 2-person — for instructor + paddler supervision, teaching or tandem descents. The K-Air 380 and Twiki II (up to 220 kg load) offer volume and stability, valuable for clubs and rentals.

Our pro and river kayaks

Four models cover most demanding uses, also found in our inflatable canoe-kayak range and its wider canoe-kayak world:

  • K-Air 300 (1-person) and K-Air 380 (2-person) — fully Hypalon hull, removable finned bottom for a smooth glide, supplied as a pack with thigh brace and repair kit. The choice for maximum toughness in whitewater and rental.
  • Twiki I (1-person) and Twiki II (2-person) — river kayaks in 1100 DTEX PVC with a self-bailing floor (12.5 cm dropstitch bottom on the Twiki II), built for learning and playing in Class I to IV.

Clubs, rental operators, activity centres and local authorities

A rental season means dozens of handlings a day, sand, salt and repeated contact with rock. Our Hypalon and high-tenacity PVC hulls are sized for that reality. Above all, we think in terms of cost over time: professional pricing, supply of spare parts and a genuine repair workshop and after-sales service in France (Oraison, 04) that puts a boat back into service rather than scrapping it. Our kayaks are CE certified. To complete the fleet, consider canoe-kayak safety gear, whitewater helmets and buoyancy aids, mandatory from Class II.

Beware of "double-skin" kayaks

Many entry-level boats hide a thin inner bladder, much like a pool float, slipped inside a good-looking fabric cover. Attractive on the shelf, these "double-skin" kayaks puncture easily and repair poorly — the opposite of what a professional needs. A true river hull relies on welded coated fabric (Hypalon or high-tenacity PVC) and multiple chambers, the foundation of every model we build.

Why choose Aquadesign

A French brand and family business, Aquadesign has been developing whitewater equipment since 1988. Our kayaks are designed in France and produced in our own factories, with premium materials (Hypalon, 1100 DTEX PVC, dropstitch), welded assemblies and CE compliance. Our Oraison (04) workshop handles maintenance, repair and spare parts: gear that lasts, season after season. Round out your setup with our canoe and kayak paddles.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose a Hypalon inflatable kayak?

Hypalon is the benchmark fabric for intensive use: highly resistant to UV, abrasion and hydrocarbons, it ages far better than ordinary PVC. Under heavy use (clubs, rentals, whitewater), lifespan can reach 10 to 15 years with good care. The K-Air 300 and K-Air 380 are built entirely from it.

What is a self-bailing kayak?

It is a kayak whose floor has drainage holes that naturally shed water taken on in the waves. The boat stays light and manoeuvrable instead of filling up, which is essential on a river. The Twiki and K-Air kayaks feature this system, certified for Class I to IV depending on the model.

Which inflatable kayak for a club or activity centre?

Aim for toughness and repairability: a Hypalon or high-tenacity PVC hull, multiple air chambers and a self-bailing floor. The K-Air 380 (2-person) is ideal for instructor + paddler supervision, the Twiki for teaching. We offer professional pricing, spare parts and France-based after-sales to keep the fleet running.

Inflatable kayak: 1 or 2 seats for the river?

A single-seater (K-Air 300, Twiki I) is more agile and responsive in the rapids, ideal if you paddle solo. A two-seater (K-Air 380, Twiki II) offers more volume and suits supervision, teaching or tandem descents. Many paddlers mostly go out solo, in which case a true single beats a double used by one person.

Is a whitewater inflatable kayak easy to repair?

Yes. A micro-leak is located with soapy water and patched in about fifteen minutes using the supplied kit (included as standard with the K-Air). PVC repairs easily; Hypalon requires a specific adhesive. For heavier repairs, our Oraison workshop takes over and supplies spare parts.

Up to which whitewater class can you paddle?

Our Twiki and K-Air kayaks are designed for rivers and target Class I to IV depending on the model. Beyond Class II, a certified helmet and buoyancy aid become essential. Always match the river choice to the paddlers' level and the conditions of the day.
