The Falcon 420: a compact Hypalon raft for technical rivers

Within the Aquadesign rafting range, the Falcon 420 has a clear identity: a 9-person Hypalon raft built for precise line-holding. Where many rafts chase volume, the Falcon 420 favours a narrow width (177 cm) and a more rounded hull to thread tight passages and hold its line through rapids, even at low water. The result is a lively, stable and hard-wearing boat designed first and foremost for guided and professional use.

Why Hypalon for intensive use

Hypalon (synthetic rubber) is the go-to material for rafts that run all season long. It ticks the boxes that matter to a club or an outdoor centre:

  • Durability: highly resistant to abrasion, UV and hydrocarbons, a well-maintained Hypalon raft can last around fifteen years.
  • Repairability: micro-punctures and scuffs are patched cleanly using a cold-cure Hypalon repair kit.
  • Long-term consistency: the fabric keeps its suppleness season after season, for predictable whitewater behaviour.

Falcon or Raptor: which Hypalon range?

Aquadesign offers two Hypalon raft families. The Falcon 420 is a single, compact and narrow model geared to technical rivers and tight passages. If you need several sizes to cover crews of 6 to 11 people, look at the Raptor range, also built in Hypalon. For an even wider choice in coated fabrics (high-tenacity PVC), the Avanti range spans many capacities. Still deciding? Compare everything on the rafting range page.

Equipping and maintaining your Falcon 420

A raft is only as good as its kit: our raft paddles, raft buoyancy vests and full range of safety accessories complete the crew. For inflation, a high-volume pump quickly reaches working pressure (around 2.5 PSI, the low pressure typical of rafts). To extend the boat's life: rinse with clean water after every outing, dry fully in the shade, apply talc before long-term storage and store dry, away from heat sources.

Frequently asked questions about the Falcon 420

How many people does the Falcon 420 carry?

The Falcon 420 seats up to 9 people, guide included. Its narrow width makes it especially comfortable on technical, tight rivers.

What is the difference between the Falcon and the Raptor range?

Both are built in Hypalon. The Falcon 420 is a single, compact and narrow model (177 cm) dedicated to tight passages. The Raptor range offers several sizes for crews of 6 to 11 people.

What inflation pressure does a Hypalon raft need?

Rafts run at low pressure: aim for around 2.5 PSI. Avoid over-inflation, which stresses seams and valves, and slightly lower the pressure in hot weather to offset air expansion.

Is a Hypalon raft easy to repair?

Yes. Hypalon patches cleanly with a cold-cure repair kit. Inspect valves, seams and bonded areas regularly, and treat any micro-puncture without delay.

Is the Falcon 420 suitable for professional use?

That is its core purpose. Its 4 air chambers, reinforced Hypalon construction and self-bailing floor make it a reliable raft for professional guides, clubs, outdoor centres and sporting expeditions.

Do you offer pricing for clubs and rental operators?

Yes. Clubs, rental operators, outdoor centres and public bodies benefit from professional pricing. Contact our sales department, which can also handle custom requests.
