DESCRIPTION, MATERIALS & ADVICE

LEARN MORE

Bostik 1400 in a 125 ml tube is a single-component liquid contact adhesive with an incorporated hardener, offering high performance without toluene or cyclohexane. Versatile, it is particularly recommended for assembling and repairing hypalon and neoprene membranes, and is also suitable for bonding natural rubber, metals, leather, cork, fabrics, wood, polyester and polyurethane foams, as well as laminates. For rigid plastics or any specific application, it is essential to contact Bostik directly to obtain precise instructions adapted to your use.

Amber in color, it has a viscosity of 3,000 to 3,500 mPa.s and offers a drying time of 10 to 15 minutes at +20°C, with a generous open time of up to 60 minutes, allowing for comfortable application. Optimal strength is achieved after 72 hours.

Application is done with a brush or notched spatula, with double coating (120 to 150 g/m²/side). On very smooth surfaces, particularly hypalon and neoprene membranes, light prior sanding may be recommended to promote adhesion – to know the exact preparation conditions suitable for your membrane, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer. A regular layer is then applied to each surface (two layers for very porous materials), allowed to evaporate for 15 to 20 minutes, then the surfaces are brought into contact with strong pressure for a minimum of 15 to 20 seconds. Bonding is immediate and does not allow for any readjustment. The minimum application temperature is +10°C (substrates at +15°C minimum).

The 125 ml tube can be stored for up to 18 months in its original hermetically sealed packaging, protected from frost, between +10°C and +30°C. Tools and fresh adhesive are cleaned with Bostik Agosolvant solvent.
